The White House has waded into the headlines surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s recent wedding, using its official social media channels to playfully—and provocatively—reference the couple’s nuptials at Madison Square Garden.
Given the long-standing tension between President Donald Trump and the global pop icon, it was perhaps predictable that the administration would capitalize on the cultural moment following the couple’s Friday (July 3) ceremony. The White House shared a digitally altered image of the famous arena’s exterior, swapping the original celebratory message for one that read: “Trump Is Your President.”
“IT’S HAPPENED!!!” the administration captioned the meme on X.
The post was a pointed parody of the actual signage displayed by Madison Square Garden, which had previously shared an Instagram post confirming the union with a sign that read, “JUST&T MARRIED!” against a signature pink backdrop.
This follows a separate jab from the White House just one day earlier, when the official account posted an Eras Tour-themed graphic featuring the President with the caption, “It’s been a long time coming…”
The friction between the two public figures dates back to 2018, intensifying significantly after Swift voiced her support for Kamala Harris during the 2024 election cycle. Trump’s reaction at the time was blunt, notably declaring his disdain for the singer on Truth Social.
However, the President’s rhetoric softened following news of Swift’s engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs star last summer. During a press briefing, Trump struck a surprisingly diplomatic chord: “I think he’s a great player and a great guy,” he remarked. “She’s a terrific person, and I wish them nothing but the best.”
