Beyoncé has ignited the holiday weekend with an unexpected musical gift. This Saturday, July 4, the 44-year-old icon surprised fans by dropping her latest single, “Morning Dew (Donk),” marking her first solo release in two years.

According to an official statement, the track serves as the starting gun for a 60-day countdown to the superstar’s birthday. More importantly, it heralds the upcoming 20th-anniversary reissue of B’Day, her seminal sophomore album that originally arrived on September 4, 2006.

The new single, a lush, mid-tempo groove, is slated to be featured on the commemorative edition of B’Day—the record that cemented her status as a global powerhouse by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The original project remains legendary for producing massive hits like the 10-week chart-topper “Irreplaceable” and the Jay-Z-assisted anthem “Déjà Vu.”

“Morning Dew (Donk)” showcases the collaborative magic of Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, with production duties handled by Beyoncé and Williams.

The song’s arrival was accompanied by a minimalist, black-and-white lyric video featuring sun-drenched, seaside visuals repurposed from photographer Cliff Watts’ iconic 2007 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue shoot.

The buzz is already palpable, with fellow artist Kehlani taking to a Parkwood Entertainment Instagram post to comment, “i personally manifested this i think.”

This release follows the massive success of Beyoncé’s eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter, which dominated the Billboard 200 in 2024. Fans can watch the official lyric video for “Morning Dew (Donk)” below.
