Sunless Skies growth roadmap revealed, suggests mid-August early entry launch

Failbetter Games are exhausting at work on Sunless Skies, the in-universe follow-up to their breakout hit, Sunless Sea. In truth, they’ve tell us what particularly they’re engaged on proper now, having revealed a roadmap of the sport’s growth from now till its scheduled early entry launch.

The roadmap was posted to Failbetter’s website. Development is scheduled by two-week intervals known as ‘sprints’, with targets set for every dash. “Once a sprint is completed, we’ll update the information below to reflect more specifically what was accomplished, and link it to the individual development blog, in case you’re curious to know more,” say Failbetter.

Naturally, the devs stress that growth timelines are fluid, and there are not any particular dates hooked up both to the sprints or to the early entry launch (in all probability a smart transfer). Still, by extrapolating from the last-updated dash (‘Big Bang’), which was scheduled to be the ultimate dash in March, the roadmap ends someday in mid- to late-August. Just do not get mad at them (or us) if that slips a bit.

In the game’s Kickstarter, which smashed its goal in lower than 4 hours, Failbetter stated they had been concentrating on an early entry launch this summer time, with a full launch in May 2018.

Set in the identical grim, Lovecraft-infused, alternate Victorian Empire as its predecessor, Sunless Skies sees Queen Victoria forge one other empire in area, with steam locomotives as starships. Like the unique, it’s going to be a top-down motion recreation in a richly imaginative universe, with sturdy narrative and character creation parts.
