At Egoist Fest 2025, the creators of “Blue Lock” unveiled two new projects.
The sports anime “Blue Lock” will return for a third season, which will adapt the “Neo Egoists League” arc. The story picks up after the match against Japan’s U-20 youth national team. Youth squads from Europe’s leading football nations — Germany, France, Italy, England, and Spain — will arrive at the Blue Lock training facility.
Players will have to choose where to train and prove themselves in clashes with the world’s top junior talents and their coaches. Only a select few will earn places on the revamped Japan squad for the youth World Cup.
Beyond the anime, the franchise will expand into live-action: a feature film is slated to premiere in summer 2026. Details about the plot and cast have not been disclosed. The film will be produced by Credeus, with Toho handling distribution.
The release appears to be timed to coincide with the 23rd FIFA World Cup, scheduled for June–July 2026.
The original manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura has been running since 2018. The series currently spans 35 volumes and has sold over 50 million copies. In 2021, “Blue Lock” won the Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shōnen Manga.
