Netflix Is Reportedly Developing a Live-Action Persona TV Series

Persona Live-Action Series Rumored for Netflix

Netflix continues its aggressive push into video game adaptations, with reports from Variety suggesting that a live-action series based on the beloved Persona franchise is currently in the works.

The project is reportedly being spearheaded by showrunner, writer, and executive producer Christopher Monfette, whose portfolio includes notable credits like Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys, and 9-1-1. Joining him is Sega’s senior executive officer, Toru Nakahara—a key creative force behind the successful Sonic the Hedgehog film trilogy—who is slated to serve as an executive producer. As of now, Netflix has declined to provide an official statement regarding the speculation.

While the project remains unconfirmed, the timing would be strategically sound. The Persona series has recently returned to the spotlight following the reveal of the Persona 4 Revival release date and the long-awaited announcement of Persona 6.

This potential series adds to Netflix’s expanding library of game-to-screen content. The platform recently debuted the first trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and remains heavily invested in other high-profile adaptations, including an Assassin’s Creed series set in Ancient Rome, along with film projects centered on the Gears of War and BioShock universes. Furthermore, the streamer has partnered with Don’t Nod—the studio behind Life is Strange—for a brand-new, yet-to-be-revealed production.
