Eschatology Entertainment, alongside publisher 4Divinity, has pulled back the curtain on Guns of Eschaton, a supernatural, Western-themed soulslike shooter. The title is particularly noteworthy for its visual identity, which was masterfully conceptualized by the late Viktor Antonov, the legendary art director whose vision defined iconic experiences like Half-Life 2 and Dishonored.
Players step into the boots of a multi-armed gunslinger navigating a decaying, apocalyptic frontier. While the perspective is that of a first-person shooter, the gameplay rhythm draws heavily from the soulslike subgenre. Success relies on tactical, high-stakes combat where ammunition is precious and every engagement requires precision. Players must master defensive maneuvers, such as perfectly timed parries and evasive dashes, to survive the relentless onslaught.
To cater to diverse combat strategies, the game emphasizes robust character customization. Through a flexible buildcrafting system, players can curate their loadouts with specialized armor, mystical talismans, and various consumables, all complemented by a suite of active and passive abilities. Additionally, an in-game Codex allows players to document enemy traits and uncover critical vulnerabilities. While the journey is fully playable solo, Guns of Eschaton also facilitates cooperative play for those venturing into this occult wilderness with friends.
The game’s aesthetic—a haunting fusion of 19th-century Americana and dark, otherworldly horror—serves as the final creative contribution from Viktor Antonov, who passed away in 2025.
“We are deeply honored to present Guns of Eschaton, the culminating project shaped by Viktor Antonov’s singular artistic vision,” stated Fuad Kuliev, studio head at Eschatology Entertainment. “I had the privilege of collaborating with Viktor from the very start, witnessing his talent turn abstract concepts into the tangible, evocative world players will soon inhabit. His influence remains woven into the very fabric of this game, representing a monumental effort from our entire team to honor his creative legacy.”
Guns of Eschaton is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
