For Josef Fares (A Way Out, It Takes Two), the name of the new Microsoft consoles is slammed to the ground

A film director, but also a game designer in video games, Josef Fares is as well known for his works (A Way Out, It Takes Two) as for his hot-blooded personality. Never hesitating to express his opinions, often without the slightest tact (we remember his “fuck” on the screen at the Game Awards when he had the floor), the latter stood out again during an interview with our colleagues from IGN.com. Currently in promotion for his next game It Takes Two, the founder of the Swedish studio Hazelight returned to the choice of the name of the new Xbox consoles, the Series X and the Series S. For him, the name given to the two machines is confusing, confusing , to the point that even internally, at Microsoft, some employees are wrong:

It’s a fucking confusing name. What’s going on at Microsoft ?! They do anything, man. What the fuck is going on ?! Genre Series S, X, Mex, Next. I mean, who understands that? Fuck … Name it Microsoft Box and you’re done. I dunno. It’s a fucking mess. Believe me, even them, they get confused internally. What is that, X, S… I can’t get it, what the hell are they doing…

A Way Out

If Jasef Fares curls the name of the Xbox Series X | S with his flowery language, it is therefore to accuse Microsoft of having chosen console names that are much too complex and especially too close to the previous generation, since the Redmond firm did not want a break between the two generations. If it is obviously this intervention that everyone will remember, and which will make the headlines of the media, Jasef Fares also spoke about the power of next gen consoles, which he nevertheless wanted to congratulate.

I don’t care about consoles. These are the games that matter to me. Of course, I would have liked us to be able to master the new consoles more (for It Takes Two). I’m just glad they’re more powerful, because developing a game when a console lacks power takes time. But to be fair with you, they came so late in production of It Takes Two – obviously the game will be better on PS5 and Xbox Series X – that we haven’t really had time to improve the game on. PS5 and Xbox blah blah… Whatever name they give to the Xbox Series.

If Jasef Fares always has a knack for creating a buzz during a promotion, we still want to remind you that his next co-op game, It Takes Two, will arrive on PC, PS4, Xbox One on March 26, and will be backwards compatible on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.
