The music world is collectively buzzing as the New York Knicks clinch their first NBA championship in over half a century.
The monumental victory arrived this past Saturday, June 13, when the Knicks bested the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in a nail-biting Game 5 showdown at the Frost Bank Center.
Following the drought-breaking win—the franchise’s first title since 1973—a wave of high-profile stars including Cardi B, Fat Joe, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Lopez took to social media to express their unbridled joy.
Cardi B offered fans a glimpse into her ecstatic reaction via Instagram Live, jumping straight out of bed to pace her home in celebration. Between exuberant shouts of “We won!” and “Oh my God!”, the rapper teased that she was hitting the town, noting that “the streets are calling me.”
Fat Joe, a perennial fixture at Knicks games and a vocal supporter of the team, shared a snapshot of himself embracing the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. “Never give up,” he wrote, highlighting the grit that defined the team’s historic season. He also posted a courtside clip featuring fellow celebrities Timothée Chalamet and Teyana Taylor caught up in the arena’s electric atmosphere.
Alicia Keys captured the jubilant mood in Manhattan by posting a video of streets overflowing with fans serenading the city with her own anthem, “Empire State of Mind.” She simply captioned the post with the track’s iconic refrain, marking the historic night for her hometown.
Jennifer Lopez, a proud Bronx native, shared an intimate video of herself glued to her screen for the final seconds of the game. Her reaction was pure, unfiltered disbelief, followed by a touching tribute to the team. Reflecting on her youth, she recalled rushing home to watch legendary players like Ewing and Starks, adding: “You restored faith, hope, and belief in that there’s nothing we can’t do! Proud to be from the block! Knicks forever.”
