For years, Ned Luke—the voice and face behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5 and GTA Online—endured a relentless campaign of swatting. These dangerous, malicious hoaxes brought armed law enforcement to his doorstep during his livestreams so frequently that interacting with responding officers became an unsettling, routine occurrence in his daily life.
Exhausted by the harassment, Luke pursued legal action. His persistence proved fruitful; by early December 2025, he received confirmation from the U.S. Department of Justice that his case was being treated as a priority, with a hearing scheduled for late January.
Legal progress, however, did not deter the trolls. Less than two weeks after the update, Luke was targeted again during a joint stream with Rob Wiethoff. The responding officers, arriving on the scene, were visibly familiar with the situation, even exchanging holiday greetings with Luke before clearing the area. The stream continued, but the incident underscored the persistent nature of the threat.
The saga reached a definitive conclusion this past June when the perpetrator behind the spree was held to account. For orchestrating these high-risk swatting attacks—a serious federal offense—the individual received the following sentence:
- 4 years in federal prison;
- 3 years of supervised release;
- A $200 special assessment fee.
Don’t drop the soap in the shower douchebag…Won’t be swatting anyone anytime soon…and they’re coming for the ones he ratted out as well.

Luke revealed that he had been the victim of over a dozen swatting attempts. The FBI’s eventual intervention brought this specific perpetrator to justice, but Luke noted that the individual was part of a larger network of harassers. Crucially, the convicted swatter has provided authorities with information regarding his accomplices, suggesting that more arrests may be on the horizon as investigators continue to dismantle this coordinated ring.
Accuracy in reporting is important. This is inaccurate on many levels. This person was not convicted for one specific swatting on Thanksgiving. He was a member of a ring, responsible for several incidents, not all involving my family, where my wife and I were swatted,…
