Behind-the-Scenes GTA 5 Camera Work Exposes Rockstar’s Tricks: Transforming NPCs, Random T-Poses and a Half-Built Plane

Grand Theft Auto V

Later, a group walks down a staircase that actually passes through the floor of their hallway. In another shot, as debris falls from an in-flight plane, an NPC stands to the side in a full T-pose — it plays out like a Looney Tunes gag.

Other glitches show characters sinking into the terrain as if stepping offstage, or weapons that hover while being picked up. One plane scene reveals a half-assembled aircraft, and an NPC simply changes into a different background character after leaving the frame — a pragmatic reuse of assets.

Taken together, these moments underscore how cartoonish Grand Theft Auto can be, even when you remove the game’s usual explosions and chaos. At one point a shovel is inexplicably embedded in the ground for no clear reason.

Maybe it’s load-bearing. Either way, it makes you wonder which oddball props — like garden tools — Rockstar will tuck away in Grand Theft Auto 6.

GTA 5 sleuth finally has an explanation for this 12-year-old Easter egg, and it turns out it has roots in a GTA 4 urban myth.
