Michigan State Police have confirmed the recovery of a deceased 28-year-old man in a woodland area adjacent to the Electric Forest Festival grounds in Rothbury, Michigan. Jerard Jackson, a native of Illinois, had been reported missing on June 29 following his departure from the multi-day event. According to official statements from the MSP Sixth District, his remains were discovered in close proximity to his rental vehicle.

Earlier that morning, authorities had visited Jackson’s campsite in response to his report regarding an alleged criminal disturbance involving a companion. Following a thorough investigation and interviews with all pertinent parties, officers concluded that no such event had occurred. Jackson reportedly vacated the festival premises shortly thereafter.

Investigators discovered that Jackson had abandoned his mobile phone and personal effects. His rental car was subsequently located; it was unoccupied, though his wallet and keys remained inside. Authorities confirmed that the circumstances surrounding his death indicate suicide, with no evidence of foul play.

This incident remains under active investigation alongside a separate, tragic case: the discovery of a newborn infant’s body inside a portable restroom on the festival grounds. The event, which hosted over 50,000 attendees and featured performances by artists such as Kaskade, Excision, and Passion Pit, is currently the subject of a high-priority inquiry.

More than a week following the discovery of the neonate in the “Good Life” camping sector by a sanitation worker, law enforcement has yet to make any arrests. While an autopsy has been performed, medical examiners are still working to determine the formal cause of death. Officials have not disclosed information regarding the infant’s gender, health, or identity, and are continuing their search for the mother.

Authorities have urged the public to assist in the investigation. A spokesperson for the Michigan State Police emphasized that the department is treating these cases with the utmost urgency, coordinating with forensic experts and prosecutors to ensure every lead is exhausted. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Michigan State Police or submit tips via the official portal.
