Renowned filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor Rob Reiner has passed away in Los Angeles. The visionary behind cinematic staples such as Misery, The Princess Bride, and When Harry Met Sally was 78 years old.
Authorities discovered Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Singer, at their home. According to reports from TMZ, both victims sustained numerous stab wounds, and the investigation has been classified as a homicide. Citing internal sources, People magazine reports that the couple was allegedly killed by their son, Nick.
Born in New York in 1947, Reiner began his career in the late 1960s as a television writer and actor. His distinguished directorial portfolio includes his cult-classic debut This Is Spinal Tap, alongside Stand by Me, A Few Good Men, The American President, and The Bucket List. As a performer, he appeared in notable films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Sleepless in Seattle, and The First Wives Club.
Reiner’s final project was the Spinal Tap sequel, which was released earlier this year.
