Lauren Bennett, ‘Party Rock Anthem’ Singer and G.R.L. Member, Dies at 37

Remembering Lauren Bennett: A Look Back at Her Musical Legacy

The music world is mourning the loss of Lauren Bennett, the talented performer known for her work with G.R.L. and the Paradiso Girls. Bennett passed away at the age of 37, leaving behind a legacy defined by her vibrant stage presence and contributions to pop music. Her bandmates from G.R.L.—Paula van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, and Emmalyn Estrada—shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram this past Monday.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear Lauren,” the group wrote in a touching tribute. “Our hearts are shattered. We will forever cherish the laughter, the love, and the countless moments we shared together. Her radiant spirit touched so many, and she will be missed deeply and loved eternally.”

The members concluded their message by wishing their friend a peaceful rest. At this time, the cause of her death has not been disclosed.

A Career Defined by Pop Hits

Bennett’s journey in the industry began as a member of the Paradiso Girls, a collective established by Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin. The group gained attention in 2009 with their debut single, “Patron Tequila,” which climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

Following the group’s dissolution in 2010, Bennett pursued a successful path as a solo artist and sought-after collaborator. She worked alongside heavyweights like CeeLo Green and will.i.am, and perhaps most notably, provided the vocals for LMFAO’s global smash, “Party Rock Anthem.” The track dominated the charts, holding the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks in 2011.

In 2013, she joined the girl group G.R.L. The ensemble made waves with their debut single “Vacation,” featured on The Smurfs 2 soundtrack, and their 2014 collaboration with Pitbull, “Wild Wild Love.” The group released their self-titled EP later that same year.

Bennett is the second member of G.R.L. to pass away; the group previously suffered the loss of Simone Battle in 2014. G.R.L. eventually disbanded in 2015.
