GameStop says it will ignore Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price hike and continue selling subscriptions for $20 instead of $30 in-store and online

An attached image read: “Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is still $19.99 a month with us. You’re welcome.”

While other retailers such as Amazon and Target continue to list Game Pass Ultimate at the previous $19.99 price, GameStop appears to be the only retailer publicly committing to that price indefinitely.

Whether this is legally permitted is unclear. It likely depends on Microsoft’s policies — for example, any minimum advertised price (MAP) it enforces. One might expect an official price hike to alter MAP, but GameStop may have identified a loophole, or it could simply be testing Microsoft’s response. I don’t know for certain, but I’m curious to see how Microsoft reacts.

For context, Microsoft also raised the price of Game Pass for PC from $11.99 to $16.49 per month, but GameStop’s offer appears limited to Game Pass Ultimate.

Meanwhile, Microsoft continues to run a full‑page Xbox Game Pass ad on console startup a day after hiking prices by 50%
