Brian Fargo, head of inXile Entertainment, described the role‑playing project Clockwork Revolution as the most ambitious and complex game he has ever worked on. That complexity comes from deeply realised characters, a world that reacts dynamically, and a narrative that adapts to the player’s choices.
Meaningful character creation, a world that responds, unforgiving stakes, and flashes of our dark humour — these are just a few facets of the setting, systems, and eccentric characters you’ll encounter.
Game director Chad Moore added that the project will be even more reactive than typical RPGs, incorporating time travel and history‑altering mechanics that introduce new consequences for players.
We’ve pushed ourselves to elevate visual responsiveness and give players the power to rewrite the past through their choices.
Fargo also emphasised that the game is aimed squarely at devoted RPG fans:
It was important to speak directly to true RPG fans and show what this game is about. We deliberately pause moments so conversations can breathe and systems can be revealed. The scene with Alfie isn’t just dramatic — it establishes the mood. The game can be brutal, not only in combat but in the repercussions of your choices. This is about more than cutscenes; it’s a deep, reactive RPG we love making and that our players have been waiting for.
Clockwork Revolution is being developed for PC and Xbox Series X|S, with a release planned for 2026.
