Valve Is Working on a Half‑Life 3 Trailer — Insider

A new rumor suggests Valve has started work on a trailer for Half-Life 3. The company has kept quiet for years about a sequel to the beloved series — what’s known so far comes from leaks, datamining and occasional whispers.

Previous reports indicated the next entry would serve as the “final chapter” of the franchise. Now sources claim a promo, codenamed HLX or HL3, is already in production.

The report comes from the latest episode of “HLX Files” by blogger Tyler McVicker. He said there is “a circulating rumor that the trailer is already being made.” According to him, Valve’s method for producing trailers differs from that of large public studios.

Announcements are typically made roughly a year before release, but Valve is allegedly planning to reveal Half-Life 3 almost concurrently with its launch, similar to the approach used for Half-Life: Alyx.

McVicker noted that when trailers are prepared well in advance of release, developers often must “partly fake” the on-screen content by crafting purpose-built scenes for demonstration.

Earlier coverage claimed Half-Life 3 was already playable from beginning to end, and that Valve’s next SteamVR headset has reportedly moved into mass production. playable from start to finish and the headset has entered mass production.
