Modder Remakes Dino Crisis 2 as Third-Person 3D Action Game
Modder RAW is transforming Dino Crisis 2 into a full 3D third-person game.
Capcom regularly releases remakes of various entries in the Resident Evil franchise. These new versions of classic games have received numerous positive reviews, which fans of another Capcom franchise, Dino Crisis, watch with envy. They have dreamed of similar remakes for many years, but for now, only fan projects exist.
Recently, a trailer by modder RAW (@postraw) caught the attention of players. He shared that he is turning Dino Crisis 2 into a full 3D third-person game.
RAW explained that in the original Dino Crisis 2, the developers did not use fully 3D environments. Instead, they added pre-rendered backgrounds to the game, so the modder is recreating the locations in 3D from scratch for his project.
The modder is replacing older technologies with newer ones. For example, DirectDraw 7 will be replaced with Direct3D 9 to ensure better GPU support, and the mod will swap DirectInput 7 for XInput, RawInput, and other alternatives. Additionally, XAudio2 support will be added for audio.

The 3D version of Dino Crisis 2 is currently in early development. The modder promises to showcase more soon.
