If you’re magnifying the photos to find a distinction, you can probably stop — they’re nearly indistinguishable and the published specifications line up. Each device is listed with a 5.5‑inch 1080p AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 865 chipset, and 8GB of RAM. The main initial difference was price: Soulja Boy’s unit launched above $400 but is now advertised at about $200 — roughly the same asking price as the Retroid Pocket Flip 2.
Despite repeated attempts to sell these drop‑shipped retro handhelds, the SouljaGame Flip’s prospects are uncertain. Reviews of earlier SouljaGame releases have been overwhelmingly negative, and Retroid publicly told RetroDodo that the Flip appears to be a rebranded Pocket Flip 2.
“I didn’t know about this,” a Retroid spokesperson said. “This is not any kind of official licensing deal. He does not have permission to rebrand our products and sell them as his own. The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is patented in the U.S. by ourselves.”
Some things, evidently, never change.
It may be wiser to stick with the best retro game consoles we recommend in 2025.
