Sony has published a new baseline PlayStation policy focused on countering harassment and aggressive behavior from customers. The document appeared on the Japanese PlayStation website against the backdrop of recent player dissatisfaction with several company decisions.

Sony emphasized that it strives to provide customers with quality, honest support and to take their feedback into account. At the same time, users must not compromise the “dignity and safety” of employees.

We will take a firm stand against such actions and strive to build healthy and sustainable relationships, respecting both our customers and our employees.

PlayStation reserves the right to limit or completely terminate customer service if it deems it necessary to protect its workers. In cases of serious incidents, Sony also intends to cooperate with the police, lawyers, and other relevant organizations.

In the published document, the company listed examples of behavior that can be considered customer harassment. These include repeated or excessively prolonged demands, unreasonable demands for compensation or apologies, insults, threats, and defamation.

The policy also covers demands unrelated to PlayStation products or services, employee intimidation, coercion into humiliating actions, discriminatory or sexual behavior, and personal attacks on individual workers.

In addition, Sony specifically warns that visiting offices and other company-related facilities without permission to demand a personal meeting or assistance is prohibited.

PlayStation emphasizes that this list is not exhaustive, and other forms of behavior may also be recognized as harassment depending on the circumstances.
