Rockstar Introduces Advanced NPC Behavior in GTA VI
GTA VI will feature a more vibrant open world thanks to dynamic NPC behavior, varied physical characteristics for characters, realistic vehicle physics, and a multitude of unscripted reactions to the player’s actions.
Following closed screenings by Rockstar Games, details regarding character artificial intelligence have emerged. For example, the physical fitness of police officers will affect how effectively they pursue suspects, including officers with excess weight who will tire more quickly and may stop during foot chases to catch their breath with their hands on their knees.
Resident behavior will also become more diverse. Upon seeing a weapon, some civilians will panic and run away, while others will attempt to disarm the protagonist. Defeated opponents will drop clothing and accessories, which can be picked up and used for quick camouflage.
Changes will also affect robberies and random events. A store clerk under threat may reveal the location of a hidden safe, and players can intervene in crimes committed by other robbers on the streets to take their loot. The clothing of passersby will match their surroundings, ranging from athletic wear near gyms to casual attire in impoverished neighborhoods.
