What is now known as 2XKO first surfaced as Project L in 2019 after Riot Games acquired Radiant Entertainment. Radiant had previously been developing Rising Thunder, a fighting game praised for its technical polish and accessibility, and that influence is evident in 2XKO’s design.
The title has been available in PC early access since October. Riot Games has confirmed a console rollout for January 2026: 2XKO will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S that month, timed to coincide with the start of Season 1 across all platforms.
Season 1 introduces a new champion and expands the progression system. When consoles join the ecosystem, players will have access to unlocked content — champions, skins, mastery rewards, and more — across platforms. To ensure parity, Riot will include a catch-up mechanic so console players can earn content that was available during PC early access.
Alongside Season 1, Riot revealed the Frame Perfect skin, a competitive-themed cosmetic whose sales will partially fund tournament organizers by supporting prize pools and event production. Riot also announced the 2026 Competitive Series, a coordinated program with tournament organizers worldwide. The series will feature 20 official Riot events, including five Majors, and the inaugural event is scheduled to begin on January 29, 2026.
In short: 2XKO arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in January 2026, launching Season 1 across all platforms at the same time.
