Multiplayer Added to Unofficial Mobile Version of Project Zomboid

Enthusiasts continue to advance a fan-made Project Zomboid port for Android, adding multiplayer support and addressing several technical issues.

The fan adaptation of Project Zomboid for Android, released in September, has received a substantial update — it now features multiplayer. The mobile build previously supported only single-player, but the newest release introduces cooperative play and improves compatibility with MIUI-based devices (Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO), where touch controls had not been working reliably.

You can download the updated build from GitHub, but multiplayer is turned off by default. This measure is intended to minimize the risk of potential legal action from The Indie Stone, the original game’s developers.

To enable network features, users will need Project Zomboid 42.12 for Linux from Steam or GOG. The Linux package includes an android folder containing two files — libRakNet64.so and libZNetNoSteam64.so. Add those files into a ZIP archive, then point the mobile build’s Native Libraries setting to that archive.

Players who prefer single-player need not add any extra files — it launches and runs as-is.

The fan port’s developer emphasized that the update does not modify the original game’s content and is aimed solely at enthusiasts who want to try Project Zomboid on mobile devices.
