Micron decision led to a sharp price surge — consoles, smartphones and laptops to become more expensive due to manufacturers’ collusion — Gamers Nexus

One of the foremost global outlets covering PC hardware has attacked the rising cost of RAM. In a recent Gamers Nexus video that amassed over 1 million views in just a few days, the channel argues that Micron’s retreat from the consumer market is far more consequential than many expected.

The editors warn that RAM prices are likely to continue climbing. Solid-state drives are following a similar trajectory — price increases are already noticeable. Gamers Nexus attributes these shifts to collusion among the three largest RAM and NAND manufacturers. Micron is listed among them; the company has de-emphasized the Crucial consumer brand to concentrate on servers and AI data-center work.

According to the hosts, this policy — subsidized by U.S. taxpayers — is pushing the price of personal computers to levels that put them beyond the reach of average buyers, effectively steering users toward cloud-based AI services.

Gamers Nexus also warns that the markup caused by this so-called “manufacturers’ cartel” for DRAM and flash memory will soon ripple through the entire premium electronics segment. Prices for laptops, smartphones, graphics cards, and gaming consoles are expected to rise as well.
