Michael B. Jordan, best known for his work in Creed and other standout projects, is reportedly negotiating to take the lead in Universal’s upcoming reboot of Miami Vice, The Hollywood Reporter says.
Rumors of Jordan’s and Glen Powell’s possible involvement first emerged in September. Joseph Kosinski, the director behind Top Gun: Maverick, is attached to helm the film. The picture is slated for international release on August 6, 2027.
The original Miami Vice aired in the United States from 1984 to 1989 and followed two undercover detectives tasked with bringing down Miami’s most notorious drug traffickers.
In 2006 Michael Mann directed a feature adaptation of Miami Vice starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx; the film failed to recoup its $135 million budget and was met with largely negative reviews.
Jordan is also developing a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, which he will both direct and star in; that project is scheduled for spring 2027.
