Hulu Cancels Hitman TV Series

Hulu has officially pulled the plug on its television adaptation of the Hitman video game franchise. This update comes directly from the project’s intended creator, Derek Kolstad, best known for his work on the John Wick series.

“It’s dead… You never know in this industry, but it feels like all hope is lost. I was genuinely fond of the project because of my deep appreciation for the games and the character. The reality is, I can pen a script, but that doesn’t guarantee a buyer,”

Kolstad remarked during a conversation with The Direct. Originally announced in 2017, the series was meant to expand on the stealth-action franchise that debuted in 2000, centering on a genetically enhanced master assassin known as Agent 47.

The iconic hitman has previously transitioned to the big screen twice: once in 2007 starring Timothy Olyphant, and again in 2015 featuring Rupert Friend. Both cinematic attempts were widely panned by critics and struggled to make a significant impact at the box office.

This isn’t the only high-profile casualty at the streaming platform; Hulu also recently scrapped the long-rumored Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. That project had reportedly attracted interest from original star Sarah Michelle Gellar and Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao (Nomadland).
