Hideo Kojima says he doesn’t know what his new horror game OD will be like — it will differ from Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding: “I can’t say exactly what it is yet, nor do I know if it will work out”

So far there’s no in-game footage — only a couple of cryptic teasers, which is typical of Kojima’s promotional style. If you recall Death Stranding’s early reveals, all we saw was Norman Reedus on a shoreline; for OD the teasers show Sophia Lillis lighting candles while something unseen seems to stalk her, and there are hints about a haunted building setting.

Kojima has deliberately cluttered the trailer with clues. “We’ve packed the trailer full of hints, so if you keep thinking about it, you might figure it out,” he says.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele co-wrote the project with Kojima, and the cast includes Sophia Lillis alongside Hunter Schafer and Udo Kier. Xbox Game Studios will publish OD, but the release window has not yet been announced.

Kojima once said he wanted to “make you soil your pants” with the cancelled Silent Hills; more than ten years later he’s aiming for a similar reaction with OD — “It’s really scary.”
