Path of Exile 2’s game director doubts the full release will include all planned classes

Developers’ ambitions don’t always align with what’s possible.

At present, Path of Exile 2 is planned to feature 12 classes. The eighth — the Druid — is set to arrive on December 12.

Originally, Grinding Gear Games hoped to have all of those classes available at the full 1.0 release of PoE 2, but the game director now doubts that will be achievable.

Jonathan Rogers said:

Ideally I would like to ship all the classes by the 1.0 release, but I’m beginning to suspect that we will most likely not manage it.

Rogers explained that the PoE 2 team has higher-priority work than releasing classes — refining the core gameplay and adding new weapon types and mechanics.

The developers of Path of Exile 2 hope to release the full version of the game in 2026.
