Fearwoods demo adds a playable tutorial and the start of Aveline’s story
The free Fearwoods demo has received a playable tutorial, story collectibles and two difficulty settings. The developer detailed the update in its October 29 Steam announcement, ahead of the game’s planned Early Access launch on November 26, 2026.
The tutorial introduces navigation, equipment and GPS-fragment collection. It also teaches the mechanics used to survive encounters with Aveline. Hidden objects unlock entries in her journal, with one story fragment in the tutorial and ten on the first map.
Easy and Normal change progression requirements
The two settings change how many GPS fragments players must collect for evacuation and how many story fragments are needed to unlock journal entries. The update also improves how the Steam friends list refreshes.
Fearwoods supports online co-op for up to four players. The developer is still working on clearer flashlight-combat feedback and Steam Overlay invitations. A public list of hosted games is being considered for Early Access, but its availability has not been confirmed.
