Kojima adds that the game “will include new gimmicks” and that the team aims to blur the line between cinema and video games. He says they’re considering collaboration with film professionals — not only actors but also crew — although he’s unsure how the collaboration will ultimately look. With social structures shifting so quickly, the themes he wants to explore in the game might materialize in reality sooner than expected.
He hasn’t specified how he intends to blur that line — whether through live-action elements like those seen in Alan Wake 2 or simply via a highly cinematic visual approach. Given how impressive Death Stranding 2 looked, the latter is a reasonable possibility.
Kojima even admits he doesn’t fully know what his new horror project OD will become, and that it will differ from both Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding: “I can’t say exactly what it is yet, nor do I know if it will work out.”
