The third installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake is in the “polishing” stage, says the project’s game director

Naoki Hamaguchi has not announced a precise release date for the game.

In a recent interview, Naoki Hamaguchi, the game director of the Final Fantasy VII trilogy, provided a detailed progress report on development of the third entry.

At this stage, the core gameplay is nearly complete, and we’re focused on refining and polishing it. Honestly, I’m eager for everyone to play it, but we must finish perfecting it first.
Naoki Hamaguchi, Square Enix.

He also emphasized that the team never intended all three parts to feel the same: the first redefined what a “remake” means, the second expanded the concept into an open-world experience, and the third will raise both gameplay and scale to an entirely new level.
