Gamers Find Method to Speed Up DLSS by 45 Percent

Enthusiasts have modified an unofficial implementation of DLSS 5, forcing neural network rendering to process the frame before upscaling rather than after.

DLSS 5 can achieve performance gains of up to 45% thanks to fan modifications that allow the technology to work with the frame before upscaling, although image quality decreases slightly.

The main drawback of DLSS 5 is considered to be its handling of the full-size frame after image reconstruction. Modders managed to change this principle using the “DLSS 5 Optiscaler Swapchain fixes” modification available on GitHub, achieving performance increases of up to 45% on NVIDIA RTX graphics cards.

Meanwhile, image quality falls short of NVIDIA’s official implementation. Nevertheless, this approach could become a direction for future technology optimization. NVIDIA has already announced a major DLSS 5 update in fall 2026. Over six months, the company managed to increase the technology’s performance by 500%, as the first demonstration ran on two RTX 5090 cards simultaneously. Official support for RTX 40 graphics cards is also in preparation.
