
Hamaguchi admitted he “would love to try and make a game like that” — a project that narrows its scope and pushes a single idea to its limits — but only if he could ignore the practical realities of his role, the company’s expectations and the obligations tied to his position.
Although he expects to remain focused on large-scale RPGs for the foreseeable future, he voiced strong support for smaller teams and the creators behind AA projects, saying their work is healthy for the industry. “If I had the opportunity to collaborate with people who make these kinds of games, that would be wonderful,” he added. “I like seeing AA titles emerge — it’s good for the whole ecosystem.”
