Production on the new screen adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Carrie has concluded, creator Mike Flanagan announced.
“This was one of the finest experiences of my career — an exceptional cast and one of my favorite projects. I’m eager to share what we’ve created,” Flanagan wrote on Instagram* (the platform is owned by Meta and has been designated extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
The series is scheduled to debut on Prime Video in 2026. The first season will comprise eight episodes. The cast includes Summer H. Howell, Samantha Sloyan, Amber Midthunder, Matthew Lillard, Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, and others.
The novel tells the story of a schoolgirl who endures repeated bullying from classmates and a devout mother. She suddenly discovers telekinetic abilities and exacts a violent revenge on those who tormented her.
Carrie has been adapted for the big screen several times, most famously by Brian De Palma in 1976 and Kimberly Peirce in 2013.
