Fans Nearly Finish Multi-Year Community Project Recreating GTA VI Map
This large-scale project is gradually approaching completion.
Rockstar Games is in no hurry to reveal all the details about Grand Theft Auto VI, choosing to showcase the game gradually. For several years now, some franchise fans have been creating as detailed a map of the state of Leonida as possible by using available materials such as trailers and other promotional content.
During recent presentations, the developers of Grand Theft Auto VI showed many gameplay moments, but players were still only able to see pieces of locations without a sense of the big picture. The creators of the GTA VI world map project are trying to fix that.
A user known as Synth Potato recently shared that the authors of this GTA VI world map are almost finished with their work. He noted that compared to Grand Theft Auto V, the map in the new game will be more densely filled outside of the main city:
Honestly, the design is ingenious: the map is much wider than in GTA V, and there is much more variety in the roads. There is no single large “ring” highway covering the entire map via the shortest path—very often you WILL have to plan your route through the center. There are also many small towns located outside of Vice City, so the map is much denser than in GTA 5, where there was practically nothing between Los Santos and Blaine County.

Synth Potato also pointed out something that seemed strange to him, which is the size of the airport: “it’s almost half the size of the city itself, so I hope it doesn’t look too jarring in the game.”

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 of this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not officially announced anything regarding the release window for the PC version, but rumors suggest that the gap between the console and PC releases might be smaller this time.
