Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developer Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive have confirmed a major game update is in development, the companies said in a news release. Creative director Guillaume Broche described the update as a gesture of thanks to the community for their enthusiastic support.
The forthcoming patch will introduce an entirely new playable environment populated with fresh enemy encounters and hidden surprises. Players can also expect difficult new boss fights, additional costume options, expanded text and UI localizations, and — according to COO and producer François Meurisse in a video interview with Polygon — support for PC handheld compatibility.
Meurisse added that fans will enjoy sharing new moments with the cast, while CTO and lead programmer Tom Guillermin noted the studio continues to incorporate player feedback into its roadmap. Guillermin pointed to a recent patch that added a Battle Retry Prompt — letting players jump straight back into a boss fight after a failure — as an example of those community-driven improvements.

Players who have progressed far into the game will likely spot a few Easter eggs tucked into the illustration.
Broche expressed deep appreciation for the community’s reaction, saying the team is humbled by how the game has connected with players worldwide and by fans who create art, music covers, and cosplay inspired by the game.
Sandfall and Kepler also revealed that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has surpassed another milestone, selling more than 5 million copies across platforms since its April launch. The soundtrack has likewise achieved strong streaming numbers — totaling over 333 million plays across services — and the album spent more than ten weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Classical & Classical Crossover Album charts and reached No. 1 on the iTunes Top 100 Albums chart in nine countries.

Although the studio has not announced an exact release date, Meurisse told Polygon it is expected to arrive in the “upcoming month(s).” Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
