Lionsgate has officially initiated the casting process for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto’s iconic manga, “Naruto.”
Destin Daniel Cretton is set to write and direct the feature film. Cretton is well-regarded for his previous work with Marvel Studios, including “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” as well as his contributions to the “Spider-Man” franchise and the “Wonder Man” series. A release date for this Hollywood production has yet to be determined.
Initial plans to adapt “Naruto” were first announced in 2015. The source material follows the journey of Naruto Uzumaki, a spirited teenage ninja who strives to become the Hokage—the most formidable warrior and protector of his village.
The original “Naruto” manga series enjoyed a successful run from 1999 to 2014. The franchise also gained international acclaim through its long-running anime adaptation, which aired from 2002 to 2007.
