Netflix Developing Shows Based on Roald Dahl’s Stories
Netflix is currently producing a six-part drama inspired by Roald Dahl’s short stories for mature audiences. The star-studded cast features Nicola Coughlan, Naomi Scott, Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, and Toby Jones, among other renowned performers. Filming is already underway in Manchester and across Northern England.
The project draws from Dahl’s darker, more satirical adult fiction. Screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst is weaving several of the author’s tales into a cohesive narrative. The plot centers on a young couple trapped in a small seaside town; as they struggle to escape, they find themselves entangled in a web of deceit, infidelity, homicide, and various other perils.
Alongside Coughlan, Scott, and West, the ensemble cast includes Josh Finan, Imelda Staunton, Toby Jones, Carmen Ejogo, Christine Tremarco, Michael Socha, and Clarke Peters. Netflix has yet to disclose which specific characters from the Dahl anthology these actors will be portraying.
