Ryan Gosling to produce live-action “The Flintstones” movie

Warner Bros. is moving forward with a brand-new live-action adaptation of “The Flintstones,” with Ryan Gosling set to serve as a producer. The project is currently in the early stages of development; Gosling and his producing partner at Open Invite, Jessie Henderson, have officially boarded the production, while the studio is actively seeking a screenwriter to pen the script.

The narrative will focus on Bamm-Bamm Rubble—the son of Barney and Betty Rubble—who was famously characterized in the original animated series as a toddler possessing superhuman strength. Reports suggest the film will follow the character into adulthood, though specific plot details remain under wraps. As of now, there is no indication that Gosling will appear in front of the camera.

“The Flintstones” made its television debut in 1960. The Hanna-Barbera production, which chronicled the lives of the Flintstone and Rubble families in the prehistoric town of Bedrock, holds the distinction of being the first animated program to secure a consistent primetime slot on American television.
