Capcom Well Optimized Onimusha for Switch 2

Onimusha: Way of the Sword runs at roughly 45 FPS on Switch 2 and performs more smoothly in quality mode than the PS5 version.

On Switch 2, the game features only a single graphics mode and hovers around 40 to 50 FPS, averaging approximately 45 frames per second. On PS5, the quality mode runs at about 35 to 45 FPS. Sony’s console also includes a performance mode targeting a full 60 FPS, though it uses a lower internal resolution.

The Switch 2 version features several cutbacks, particularly in handheld mode, where the developers lowered geometric detail and resolution. Even so, the roughly 45 FPS performance on a small screen should provide a comfortable gaming experience.

PlayStation 5 also features a performance mode that delivers 60 frames per second. This comes with certain visual downgrades and a lower internal rendering resolution, allowing Sony’s hardware to truly demonstrate its advantages.

Capcom had to make compromises on Switch 2. In handheld mode, terrain geometry is simplified and resolution is lowered, but around 45 frames per second on a small screen should provide an enjoyable gameplay experience.
