Backbone Unveils Limited-Edition “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach” Gamepad
Backbone has unveiled a special edition smartphone controller — the Backbone One: Death Stranding 2 Edition — developed in partnership with Kojima Productions and PlayStation.
Backbone announced that a limited-run Backbone One: Death Stranding 2 Edition will go on sale on November 6, priced at $160. Production is capped at 1,350 units, and pre-orders will be available through Best Buy, the official Backbone store, and the Kojima Productions Store.
The controller builds on the standard Backbone One platform but features a bespoke design inspired by the visuals of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Transparent panels in the chassis reveal internal components, while the color scheme references Sam Porter Bridges’ equipment and the Drawbridge logo.
Each unit ships in a collectible yellow case modeled after the game’s cargo crates and carries a unique serial number. As with other second-generation models, the Death Stranding 2 Edition includes an improved D-pad, magnetic adapters for securing smartphones, and support for both iOS and Android devices.
This is not the first time Backbone has drawn inspiration from Hideo Kojima’s work. The company previously released a Death Stranding: Director’s Cut-inspired model with a semi-transparent shell reminiscent of the BB capsule.
