A Film Adaptation of “Little Muck” to Be Produced in Russia

A fresh cinematic adaptation of the classic oriental folktale “Little Muck” was unveiled at the Cinema Fund’s recent pitching session. The project is being spearheaded by the GPM KIT production company.

The film’s ensemble cast features Artem Koshman in the title role, alongside Polina Gukhman (Amina), Pavel Derevyanko (The Vizier), Svetlana Listova, and Boris Dergachev. The production will be helmed by director Andrey Shavkero, known for his work on “Yolki 5” and “Goszaschita.”

The story follows a young man embarking on a quest to liberate his father from imprisonment. Along the journey to the capital, he comes into possession of a pair of magical slippers. Soon after finding employment as the Vizier’s personal courier, Muck uncovers a sinister court conspiracy: the ruler has imprisoned Princess Amina and deprived the kingdom of its water supply, plunging the land into drought. Muck must now summon all his courage to dismantle the villain’s schemes, save the realm, and rescue Amina.

While an official release date has yet to be announced, filming is slated to take place on location in Morocco. Acclaimed costume designer Nadezhda Vasilyeva, recognized for her work on “The Flying Ship,” will oversee the visual style of the characters’ attire.
