Xbox Play Anywhere program increases gaming activity by 20% — Microsoft

Xbox president Sarah Bond noted in an interview that players spend noticeably more time in titles that support Play Anywhere, accelerating the company’s strategic direction. The program lets a single purchase be used on both PC and console, which in turn raises engagement and player spending.

“We analyzed player behavior and found they spend about 20% more time in XPA titles. They also spend more money and are more likely to pick games that offer this feature, since they can play across all their devices.”

Microsoft is growing the Play Anywhere catalog by adding new releases. That expansion reinforces the unified Windows–console ecosystem strategy, improves accessibility, and helps secure sustained revenue streams.

The open question is how relevant Play Anywhere will remain once the next-generation Xbox debuts and further merges console and PC libraries.
