Witch Hat Atelier Manga Is One-Third Finished and Could Run for 12 Seasons

Kamome Shirahama has just finished introducing readers to the setting of her manga.

Witch Hat Atelier is approximately one-third complete. Its creator, Kamome Shirahama, told Anime Corner that she has finished introducing readers to the mechanics of the magical world and brought the story to a major turning point:

«I would say we are about a third of the way through the story, although it is very hard to tell. The Silver Eve arc was definitely a major turning point. The general outline of the plot and its ending are already mapped out, but the finer details emerge organically as I work.»

By the time of the interview, 98 complete manga chapters had been released, collected into 16 volumes. The first season of the anime concluded at chapter 23, at the end of the fourth volume. If subsequent installments maintain the same pacing, the already published material will be enough for about four seasons, including the one that has already aired.

If 98 chapters make up roughly a third of the story, the full length of the manga could approach 300 chapters. At the pace of the first season, adapting the entire story would require around 12 to 13 seasons, or about 150 episodes. Naturally, this is only a rough calculation, as future arcs could be longer, and the creators of the anime might speed up or slow down the narrative.

A second season of Witch Hat Atelier has already been announced, though a premiere date has not yet been revealed.
