Wardogs has hit a peak concurrent player count of over 428,000 on Steam, with sales reaching 2.42 million copies.

Developer Bulkhead, which started out with the niche title Battalion, has surged into the top tier of shooter developers. On Friday, Wardogs drew 360,000 concurrent players, and that figure exceeded 428,000 yesterday evening.

PlayTracker estimates that 2.42 million copies of the game have been sold on Steam. Wardogs has held the number one spot on the bestseller chart for six consecutive days. Following launch server issues on September 10, when the game’s rating dropped to about 45%, the developers quickly fixed the situation. Currently, 80% of players across 50,000 reviews recommend the project.

Bulkhead stated

Thank you for helping us reach 400,000 concurrent players. The response to our game has completely overwhelmed us, and we love watching you play.

The success of Wardogs is also viewed as a sign of changing player preferences as gamers look for more grounded shooters featuring immersive gunplay without unusual outfits and microtransaction accessories. Last week, the creators confirmed a console release for the game.
