Tencent, acting in an advisory capacity, holds a 25% stake in the new company.
Ubisoft has announced a shift to a less centralized operating model and the launch of a games division named Vantage Studios. Built around a “Creative Houses” approach, the new structure is designed to help teams respond more swiftly to player expectations and give them greater control over franchises such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Assassin’s Creed, and Far Cry.
The focus will be on elevating the quality of single-player narrative experiences, broadening multiplayer offerings, accelerating the cadence of content releases, introducing free-to-play elements, and weaving in social features.
Vantage Studios employs approximately 2,300 people across offices in Montreal, Québec City, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia.
Tencent, which earlier this year invested €1.16 billion in Ubisoft’s new initiatives, owns a 25% share and will serve in an advisory role. Major decisions will be made by Christophe Derennes and Charlie Giyemo.
