TV Series Adaptation of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky’s ‘Hard to Be a God’ Premieres

The first four of ten episodes are already available to watch.

The sci-fi drama “Hard to Be a God”, based on the novella of the same name by the Strugatsky brothers, has premiered on Wink. Four episodes became available to viewers on release day, and the remaining six will be released one per week until the finale on October 15.

The story is set in the distant future. Anton, a young employee of the Institute of Experimental History, travels to another planet and infiltrates the state of Arkanar under the guise of Don Rumata of Estor. Arkanar is a society frozen at the level of the late Middle Ages.

Anton’s mission is to observe events and rescue local scientists and thinkers while avoiding direct interference in the course of history. Following this rule becomes increasingly difficult when the authorities of Arkanar begin persecuting and destroying educated people. At the same time, the protagonist tries to trace the fate of his father, who disappeared without a trace on this planet.
