2026 has been a significant year for Jon Bernthal. He dominated the small screen with the television series His & Hers and The Bear, co-wrote and starred in a new Marvel Cinematic Universe entry, The Punisher: One Last Kill, and made appearances in two of the year’s biggest box office hits: The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Amid all of that attention, a lesser-known entry in Bernthal’s filmography has recently become a hit on Netflix.

Those Who Wish Me Dead, the 2021 action thriller that counts Bernthal among its ensemble cast, has remained one of the Top 10 most-viewed films on Netflix in the United States since joining the platform at the beginning of September 2026. According to official numbers released by Netflix, the film earned 4.3 million views in its second week of availability, between September 7th and September 13th.

The film is not the only entry in Bernthal’s filmography to find this second wave of success. Both 2026’s The Accountant 2 and 2015’s Sicario have cracked the Top 10 of Prime Video and HBO Max, respectively. But the success of Those Who Wish Me Dead on Netflix is notable because the film flew under the radar when it initially made its debut in 2021. At the time, it was among the slate of “Project Popcorn” movies from Warner Bros. Pictures that were released both in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously during the COVID-19 pandemic. While some projects in that slate found their audience amid those circumstances, such as Dune, The Suicide Squad, and The Matrix Resurrections, Those Who Wish Me Dead only earned $7.4 million domestically with a total of $19 million worldwide in its initial theatrical run.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan directed Those Who Wish Me Dead from a script that he co-wrote with Charles Leavitt and Michael Koryta. Based on Koryta’s 2014 novel of the same name, the film centers on a young boy named Connor, played by Finn Little, who goes on the run after witnessing the murder of his father. Along the way, he crosses paths with a smoke jumper named Hannah Faber, played by Angelina Jolie. The two of them join forces to stay alive and try to locate Owen’s uncle, Ethan, played by Bernthal.

The cast of Those Who Wish Me Dead also includes Nicholas Hoult as Patrick, Aidan Gillen as Jack, Jake Weber as Owen, Tyler Perry as Arthur, Tory Kittles as Ryan, and James Jordan as Ben.
