The Punisher Won’t Appear in Season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again” — Marvel Prepares a Separate Special Episode
After Frank Castle appeared in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, some viewers hoped the character would have a larger presence in the series.
Sana Amanat, executive producer of Daredevil: Born Again, told Empire that Jon Bernthal will not be appearing in the show’s second season.
Frank Castle made his debut in season one, and many expected his storyline to unfold alongside Matt Murdock’s arc, portrayed by Charlie Cox. Marvel Studios, however, opted to develop the character on a separate track.
The studio is preparing a standalone, one-hour special titled The Punisher, set for release in 2026, though specifics remain scarce. It has been announced that Reinaldo Marcus Green, director of King Richard (2021), will helm the project. Additionally, Frank Castle is confirmed to turn up in Tom Holland’s upcoming solo film, Spider-Man: A Brand New Day, but the extent of his role has not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, work on Daredevil: Born Again continues: writers are already drafting a third season even though the second installment won’t premiere until 2026.
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to debut on Disney+ on March 4, 2026.
