As the saying goes, audiences have an enduring fascination with the Killer Santa subgenre. Now, over four decades after the inaugural film triggered massive public outcry and challenged censorship standards, Silent Night, Deadly Night is expanding its dark legacy with a new literary installment. As reported by Bloody Disgusting, Silent Night, Deadlier Night, penned by Armando Muñoz, is slated for release on November 10 via Titan Books. Muñoz is a veteran of horror adaptations, having previously written novels based on films like My Bloody Valentine and Happy Birthday to Me, alongside original works such as Hoarder and Turkey Day.

When the original Silent Night, Deadly Night debuted in 1984, it instantly ignited a firestorm of controversy. A television spot featuring the murderous Saint Nick, aired infamously during a Green Bay Packers broadcast, reportedly left children terrified, leading to the formation of grassroots protest groups like Citizens Against Movie Madness. Despite the initial backlash, the franchise proved remarkably resilient, spawning numerous sequels, a 2012 reimagining, and a reboot in 2025.

The cult classic centers on Billy Chapman, a boy profoundly scarred after witnessing his parents’ murder at the hands of a criminal disguised as Santa Claus. This childhood trauma ultimately drives the teenage Billy to embark on a lethal holiday rampage. This new novel picks up two decades later, centering on Billy’s younger brother, Ricky. While Ricky strives for a quiet life, his traumatic history resurfaces when Sister Margaret—a nun from their orphanage who spent years institutionalized—returns. A mysterious new killer, seemingly well-acquainted with the brothers’ grim past, begins stalking him. Their paths collide during a massive blizzard that cuts off the power, forcing Ricky to fight for survival in this chilling extension of the saga.
