Madhouse and One-Punch Man Season 1 Director Release Teaser for Ghost – End of Night
The feature will be Shingo Natsume’s first original full-length film.
Bandai Namco Filmworks has unveiled a teaser for the original anime film ghost — end of night, directed by Shingo Natsume. The story is set in the near future where humans no longer need to work, and society is sustained solely by its most exceptional individuals. At the age of 18, every person undergoes a “selection” process that determines whether they are needed by the world.
The main protagonist is Nike, a talented girl who earned privileged status at the age of 15. She manages the “starry sky” inside a virtual reality network, but even among the chosen she feels like an outsider and tries to find her own place in an unjust society. During her search, Nike meets Mas, a man who lost his family and wanders the world aimlessly.
Studio Madhouse is handling production, with Shingo Natsume serving as both director and screenwriter. He previously worked on the first season of One-Punch Man, Sonny Boy, ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., and The Tatami Galaxy. ghost — end of night will be his first original feature-length project. The director describes his vision as follows:
“Using animation—an art form that can be considered a type of fiction—I want to create a work that reflects the spirit of our time and strives for a sense of realism.”
Manga artist Natsume Ono prepared the character concepts, and Norifumi Kugai is designing the characters. Odzora Kimishima is composing the music. Hitsujibungaku created six tracks for the film, including “Sugar,” which is featured in the teaser.
ghost — end of night will premiere in Japanese theaters on February 11, 2027. An international release date is currently unknown.
